Szigligeti Company’s New Premiere

Szigligeti Company Oradea is preparing a new premiere: Wednesday, November 17, from 19:00, Dürrenmatt’s classic tragecomedy, The Visit will be presented in the theatre’s auditorium. The performance will be directed by the company’s artistic director, Eszter Novák, starring company's actors, Enikő Fábián and Levente Kovács Jr., who both celebrate the anniversaries of their stage debut this year.

Dürrenmatt’s play tells the story of a love vendetta. The multimillionaire man-eater, Claire Zachanassian returns to her hometown, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Her visit brings new hope for the townspeople, who believe she’ll help them. Claire offers financial aid to the townsfolk, in exchange for the life of her former lover, Alfred Ill, because of whom she was unjustly convicted and exiled four decades ago.

The performance will feature outstanding Hungarian artists such as set designer Edit Zeke, Cs. Zsuzsanna Kiss, dramaturgist Péter Kárpáti, and Kossuth-prize winning composer György Selmeczi. The title role of the performance will be played by Enikő Fábián, who celebrates the fortieth anniversary of her career this year, while her partner, Alfred Ill will be played by Levente Kovács Jr., who has been of member of the Szigligeti Company for thirty years.

Tickets for the premiere can already be purchased at the theatre’s box office, or at www.szigligeti.biletmaster.ro. Season tickets are also valid for the performance on the 17th. After the premiere, there will be two more performances, on 21 November at 19:00 for Halasi season tickets and on 28 November at 17:00 for Papp Magda season tickets.

Under current epidemiological regulations, persons under the age of 12 are admitted to performances at Szigligeti Theatre without restrictions, while persons over 12 must have a valid EU COVID certificate proving full vaccination or recovery from illness. Wearing a mask and proper social distancing is mandatory during the performances.
