Ady 100 - Centennial Year Begins

Several events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of poet Endre Ady’s death will take place on 26 and 27 January, organized by Szigligeti Theatre and Várad Cultural Magazine. At the beginning of the centennial year, our audience is invited to a roundtable discussion, the launch of two cultural publications, theatre performances, but also an Ady marathon.

On 26 January, in the G building of Oradea Fortress will host a roundtable discussion and the presentation of the anniversary edition of “Irodalmi Magazin”. Guests include: Cultural anthropologist Zoltán Imre, deputy manager for culture of the Museum of Local History Oradea, literary historian Andrea Albu-Balogh, assistant professor at Partium Christian University, composer and music teacher Bálint Horváth, also an assistant professor at Partium Christian University, literary historian László Boka, scientific director of the Széchényi National Library of Budapest, literary historian and professor Krisztina Molnár, senior fellow of “Irodalmi Magazin”, and literary scholar Péter János Kondor, editor-in-chief of “Irodalmi Magazin”.

On 27 January, at 3 pm, anyone interested is most welcome to Szigligeti Studio for the launch of special anniversary edition of Várad Cultural Magazine, also dedicated to Ady’s memory. After the event, at 4 pm, Szigligeti Company presents its anniversary performance Who Has Seen Ady?, followed, at 7 pm, by The Lost Cavalier on the big stage.

At 8 pm, after the show, we are having a marathon of Ady poems during which everyone is warmly invited to read his or her favourite poem, story or article written by Ady - out loud, in front of the audience. To participate, please register HERE, but even if you don’t, you are most welcome.
