Mine Blindness – Reading at Lokal
Join us for a reading of the second part of Székely Csaba's Mine Trilogy, Mine Blindness, on 20 June, at 8 pm, in Lokal (Aurel Lazăr st. 1). Szigligeti Company is just starting rehearsals for the show due to be presented in autumn, directed by Hunyadi István and featuring ifj. Kovács Levente, Tasnádi-Sáhy Noémi, Kiss Csaba, Szotyori József, Tőtszegi Zsuzsa, and Kocsis Gyula.
Mine Blindness draws a harshly honest and astoundingly amusing portrait of an imaginary Szekler community. The location is familiar to those who know the first part of the trilogy, Mine Flower, only this time, it is inhabited by typical characters that take part in the rivalry to become mayor of the small commune. Ince, the current mayor is clinging tooth and nail to his office, and will do anything to get his main rival, ultra-nationalist Izsák, to step down. He invites commissar Florin Lupescu, a Romanian police officer who also speaks Hungarian, to the village, but the latter will focus his attention mainly on the issues related to corruption, in which the mayor is not at all innocent. Ince's carreer is in danger, as his own family slowly falls apart...
