Premiere and Discussion on the Day of Hungarian Drama

On 21 September, at 7 pm, Szigligeti Company of Szigligeti Theatre will present the studio act Goalpost and Own Goal by Péter Körmöczi-Kriván. After the premiere, Eszter Novák, art director of Szigligeti Company, will moderate a discussion with the author, theatre critic Judit Simon, and they will also launch the volume dráMÁzat III, published by the theatre.

The show, to be presented on the Day of Hungarian Drama, is directed by Péter Tasnádi-Sáhy, who has said the following about the winner of this year's dráMÁzat drama contest in the debutants' category: “Goalpost and Own Goal by Péter Körmöczi-Kriván is a story that talks wisely and warmly about love and death, and I think it can be a really useful source of inspiration for the youth that is just now starting to get a taste of life.”

The play's protagonists are teenagers: Boy is the goalkeeper of the small town's soccer team, while Suzi loves nature documentaries about salmon. Yet, their relationship is not at all usual: the girl is already dead, and in the boy's head, there's a blood clot called Sam ticking like a time bomb.

Péter Körmöczi-Kriván's play, winner of this year's Debut Award at the Drámázat drama contest, is fresh, bittersweet, surprising, fit for a 21st century theatrical space, yet deeply rooted in an image that even Shakespeare himself had only borrowed: two young hearts whose love is sealed eternally by death.

Tickets for the show are available at the theatre's booking agency (open Monday to Friday 2 – 7 pm, or one hour before the start of the weekend shows), or online at www.biletmaster.ro.
