This drama is like a well-wrought, 100 carat diamond

Attila Balogh graduated with a BA from Târgu Mureş University of Arts in 2010, as a stage director, continuing his MA studies in acting and directing. Since 2011, he has been a director at Northern Theatre Satu Mare, Harag Company. Oradean audiences have first seen him in 2015, as director of the play The Seventh Stair, then, in the season of 2015/2016, he has been an actor with Szigligeti Company, in the plays Bubbles and Leander and Lenszirom. On the 18th of March, Szigligeti Company will present Chekhov's drama Three Sisters, directed by him.

“It is inevitable that from this creative process, our own Three Sisters will come into being. It is an audacity in the sense that this is an extremely well-known drama, so there is no way that I can avoid a comparison. On the other hand, the text is so genial that the greatest challenge for us is that we are unable to edit anything out of it – and this is something that makes our work immensely difficult, because we wand to keep the audicence's attention for the whole four acts. This text is like a well-wrought, 100 carat diamond – logical, coherent and well thought-out in its structure, clear down to a molecular level” – the director has said about the upcoming play Three Sisters.

Although the play will only premiere at the middle of March, rehearsals have started as early as January. Attila Balogh says that this unusually long rehearsal process is specific to the great Russian classics – in these cases, there have been creative processes that went on for more than a year.
