Five Years of Independence

On the 27th of January 2011, the Council has voted the order thanks to which, after 55 years, Oradea has an independent Hungarian theatre again. To mark the decision's fifth anniversary, Szigligeti Theatre organizes an event series, during which all 3 companies will have special performances.

General director Katalin Czvikker has said, in the event's opening, that the institution has demonstrated that those who worried about how the Hungarian theatre will do were wrong. The institution's leader thanked everyone who have supported the cause of the Hungarian theatre during these five years.

Senator Rozália Biró, a supporter of Szigligeti Theatre said that wherever she travels in the country, she proudly tells about the theatre life of Oradea.

Eszter Novák, art director of Szigligeti Company, drew attention to the fact that the theatre restarted its programme Theatre in School, School in Theatre, during which students create original stage shows. Réka Botházy-Daróczi, art director of Lilliput Company, presented the puppet theatre's birthday events. Levente Dimény, Szigligeti Company's actor and art director of Nagyvárad Ensemble, underlined the importance of making progressive performances, to encourage the permanent development of both the artists and the audience.

The opening evening continued with the screening of Ede Szigligeti's Liliomfi, put to the stage in 2011, by Attila Keresztes. Events will continue as follows:
