A New World

Wednesday, the 21st of October 2015, at 7 pm, Szigligeti Theatre will be the venue of a symphonic concert. Papp Magda season tickets are valid, also tickets can be booked at the theatre's booking agency.

Dvořák's 9th Symphony is originally titled From the New World, and was composed in 1893, inspired by the years he spent in America. The literary basis of the symphony is the epic by Longfellow, The Song of Hiawatha. It is one of the most popular pieces of classical music still today, probably mainly because Dvořák had long been interested in the Indian and African roots of American music, and incorporated these elements into his music. Soma say that the third or fourth – best-known – movement will make any rock music fan’s heart pound – at least any sophisticated rock fan's heart, but certainly that of a jazz or soul fan.

Ever since its founding, Szolnok Syphonic Orchestra has played an active role in preserving Hungarian cultural values and transmitting them on a high level.

In the past years, the orchestra, led by Japanese conductor Izaki Masahiro, has been through a huge professional growth. As a result, since 2009, it is considered a First Class Orchestra, and respectively, a high quality professional symphonic orchestra. As a recognition of its professional work, the orchestra has played several times in European countries such as Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, France and Finland, and also outside Europe, in Japan.
