The Mysterious Katalin Karády – Guest Play

On Sunday, 25 January, at 5 pm, we will present the guest performance titled The Mysterious Katalin Karády, featuring Júlia Molnár in the title role, in the foyer of Szigligeti Theatre.

“Although no public square, no street, no theatre season ticket bears her name, Katalin Karády is forever kept in the heart of the audience. Defying critics, esthetic values, changing tastes, she is adored almost with a civil disobedience, wearing wide-brimmed hats long out of fashion, and love stories long out of fashion. Although on the 19th of February 1990 (the exact annyiversary of the day she fled from the country in 1951 – isn't that weird?), we have attended her funeral service, she lives on. She is a cultic personality. We get emotional when we hear her sing... What is this, if not immortality?”
