The Hungarian National Philharmonic, led by Zoltán Kocsis, starts its one week long Romanian tour on the 17th of June. During this week they visit Sibiu (17th June), Târgu Mureș (18th June), Miercurea Ciuc (19th June), Sfântu Gheorghe (20th June), Cluj Napoca (21st June) and Oradea (23rd June). The closing concert of the philharmonic orchestra tour is held at the Szigligeti Theatre of Oradea, on Saturday, the 23rd of June, at 7 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the box office of the theatre for 30 RON. Box office programme: from Tuesday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The concert consists of Enescu’s Rhapsody No. 1. , Kodály’s Dances of Galánta, which is a piece woven from wonderful Hungarian motives, and the crown of Bartók’s life work, Concerto for Orchestra, which similarly to his Dance Suite includes many non-Hungarian musical elements.

The Hungarian National Philharmonic is one of the oldest and internationally best-known orchestras of Hungary. During its existence it delivered thousands of concerts in Hungary and abroad with the contribution of world renowned artists. Under the leadership of Zoltán Kocsis, chief music director, they aim to promote the works of contemporary artists, mainly Hungarians, throughout the world. They willingly present rarely played works as well. The Bartók New Series summarizes Bartók’s life work; the CD recordings achieved the greatest professional recognition of all times.
