Get Up, Roma Stand-Up! fearlessly shakes up the stand-up comedy scene, a space where racism, sexism, and homophobia have for far too long been given room under the guise of humor. The game has always been rigged: jokes were written for us and about us, but without us. This performance changes the rules, bringing deeply personal, political, and openly Roma humor to the stage, without euphemisms or detours.

Each performer steps into the spotlight with their own story, told directly, sharply, and with plenty of humor. From biting satire to vulnerability, tenderness, and joy, their voices dismantle tired stereotypes and reclaim the stage with honesty and strength. Their comedy does more than simply provoke laughter. It challenges, questions, and grows out of lived experience.

Roma culture has always found its strength in joy. Here, comedy becomes a form of resistance, a space for expression, cultural pride, and political commentary. Laughter becomes a form of collective healing. The performance celebrates our multiple identities and invites us to ask who has the right to tell the joke—and who has been its target for far too long.
