Adapted for the stage by Marcel Bélai, Réka Takács and Csaba Györfi, based on the novel of the same title by Dezső Kosztolányi.

The story of Anna Édes is familiar even to those who have not read Dezső Kosztolányi’s novel: an exemplary maid, seemingly without any apparent reason, brutally murders her employers. Since the novel’s publication, different interpretations of the reasons behind the murders have continued to clash.

In our production, Anna Édes herself tells the story of what happened to her. Through her perspective, we see the people who shaped her life and experience the events anew. We follow her journey to the tragic outcome and explore who this “perfect maid” really was—someone who could only escape her captivity and find fulfillment in one way.
