Figaro is both everyday and extraordinary. A common man — yet utterly unique. The playwright, Beaumarchais, may well have given his beloved Figaro something of himself: that rare quality which made him one of drama’s most iconic characters — the ability to face even the gravest peril with humor and a cheerful spirit.
