William Shakespeare

Twelfth Night

What You Will

comedy

Translated by::

A spirit of Renaissance joy, liberated mirth, and the celebration of true love and faithful friendship pervades Shakespeare’s (1564–1616) festive comedy. In the course of its twists and turns, all those who try to deceive others or themselves are unmasked: the selfish manipulator hiding his true intentions behind sanctimonious puritanism, the self-indulgent lover, the mourner exaggeratedly clinging to grief. In the end, genuine human feelings triumph: true love and loyal friendship prevail...

The Szigligeti Company, after more than five years, once again stages a Shakespeare comedy, choosing the play that has only been performed once before in Oradea (in 1926).
