Two Sketches, One Show

Central Europe Dance Theatre (KET) has started a unique event series during which the company's dancers can try their hand at solo dancing, with the help of choreographers such as Adrienn Hód, Anna Réti, Gábor Halász, and Attila Kun. Thanks to the genre of solo dance, the performer's personality can shine through his or her stage presence, and the answers they give to the choreographer's ideas during the rehearsal process. Thus, the collaboration between the two artists can become one sketch, one portrait.

Of the productuins created so far, two – InSoundOut by Máté Mészáros and Lilith by Csaba Molnár – will be presented to Oradea audiences on 12 May, in Szigligeti Studio.

InSoundOut is interpreted by László Mádi. In his life, dance has played an important role ever since he was a child. Starting from his story, choreographer Máté Mészáros seeks answers to questions such as: “Who is a dancer when he is not dancing? What is it that defines his personality, how can this human character, stripped of everything, be represented on stage as a dancer, without dance?”

In Lilith by Csaba Molnár, one person – a woman – a dancer stands in the empty space defined by the walls of the theatre. It is performed by Zsanett Jakab, already known by Oradea audiences from the co/production by Nagyvárad Ensemble and KET, Stabat Mater. She will represent the ancient and controversial character of Lilith: a female demon, an old Sumerian goddess, the goddess of high winds, a witch.

Tickets for the two-part show are available at Szigligeti Theatre's booking office, or online, at www.biletmaster.ro.
