A festival and a premiere at Szigligeti Theatre

Between 6—10 April, Szigligeti Theatre organizes a new edition of Holnap Után Festival, during which the show commemorating famous primadonna Hanna Honthy, titled Once Upon an Operetta, will have its premiere on the 9th. The event's press conference took place on the 31st of March.

General director Katalin Czvikker said that Holnap Után Festival is the oldest such event organized by the theatre, and its fourth edition will follow last year's traditions. True to its original concept, there will be theatre plays, concerts and literary discussions, partially with people who have some kind of connection with Oradea.

Main organizer Attila Sorbán presented the festival's detailed schedule, and said that one of the most prestigious events this year will be Friday's piano concert by world famous artist Tamás Érdi, organized by the theatre in collaboration with Radio Maria.

In the second half of the press conference, we have received more information about the theatre company's new studio performance, Once Upon an Operetta, a musical play in two acts.

“The performance, edited by György Nemlaha, commemorates the famous diva Hanna Honthy, who, from the age of 17 to her death in 1978, was a celebrated primadonna of the operetta genre. We aim to put her life to the stage: we will see the uncrowned queen of musical fairy-tales, but also the woman who had to make countless compromises in order to be able to perform on stage” – director András Schlanger has said. Actress Júlia Molnár added that the show required a very serious preparation, because besides the text, it also features music and dance skills.
