Happiness Express – New Year's Eve Premiere in Szigligeti Theatre

The press conference for Szigligeti Company's New Year's Eve premiere took place on Monday, 28 December. At the event, beside the theatre's management, director László Harsányi Sulyom, art consultant György Nemlaha and dramaturgist Anna Zsigó talked about the basic idea of the performance, meant to be a musical time travel, and also about the rehearsal process.

The press conference was opened by general director Katalin Czvikker,who thanked the audience and the institutions that supported the theatre in 2015. Eszter Novák, Szigligeti Company's arti director said: “We intend to keep the New Year's Eve premiere a real surprise, so all I can say is that we will dive headfirst into the past, and our musical time travel will be made unforgettable by the music of the era.”

“Happy Express is a daring and hard challenge for me, but also for the theatre, considering that it involves almost 80 people, of which 25 actors, the whole technical personnel, and 12 musicians” – director László Harsányi Sulyom mentioned, adding: “We invoke the 60-s and the 70-s, but not in some retro-show. We hope to offer something about the era I grew up in to audiences of all ages”.

About the performance's basic idea, György Nemlaha and Anna Zsigó emphasized the fact that besides Hungarian pop culture, the show will contain elements that refer to life in Oradea.

The premiere of Happy Express will take place on the 31st of December, at 7 pm. Further dates are as follows: 2 January 7 pm, and 3 January 5 pm.
