Lysistrata, my love

comedy

Translated by::

“Aristophanes’ Lysistrata is famous not only for its subject matter but also for its bawdy, uninhibited style. Out of stylistic respect for the ancient author, I have woven a few subtle allusions of that nature into my own text.

I wrote My Love, Lysistrata between December 2021 and February 2022 — a period when the European press was filled, more than ever before, with talk of another war possibly breaking out on the continent. When 130,000 Russian soldiers appeared at Ukraine’s border, Europeans began to awaken from their long sleep.
At the beginning of 2022, the citizens of Europe, immersed in peaceful consumerism, industrial expansion, and fascination with virtual worlds, suddenly realized that freedom must be defended — by force of arms.”**
