Szigligeti Theatre Goes Online

Considering the circumstances caused by the pandemic, as of 23 March 2020, Szigligeti Theatre closes all its spaces for an undefined period of time. This means that besides cancelling all shows, offices, including the booking office, remain closed until national and local epidemiological measures make it possible to reopen. However, our institution does not cease its activities entirely: in accordance with national and international guidelines, our colleagues continue working from home, making sure that our audience does not remain without theatre during this trying time.

New shows will be added to our online video store regularly. The first one to be published was the comedy Buborékok on 15 March, and, last week, four more shows were uploaded to our YouTube channel: Szent László csudatettei and Az égig érő fa by Lilliput Company, Nagyvárosi bújdosók by Nagyvárad Ensemble, and Az eset (The Case) by Szigligeti Company. Between 23–29 March, the following performances will be uploaded:

Wednesday, 25 March: Brémai muzsikusok (The Musicians of Bremen) – Lilliput Company, director: Rumi László

Friday, 27 March: Liliomfi – Szigligeti Company, director: Keresztes Attila

Sunday, 29 March: Barbárok / Barbarians – Nagyvárad Ensemble, director: Györfi Csaba

Videos will remain available all throughout the lockdown.

At the same time, actors of Szigligeti Company are preparing a series of readings from the novel Egy város regénye by Nagy Endre. Firtos Edit, Fodor Réka, Tasnádi-Sáhy Noémi, Kardos M. Róbert, Dimény Levente, Csatlós Lóránt, Kiss Csaba, and Szotyori József will read a chapter from this book and other literary texts every evening until 16 April.

Lilliput Company will publish videos to help families spend quality time together during this period: besides puppet-making tutorials, there will be game ideas, and bedtime stories on their channel.

Our usual communication channels remain open: e-mail us at titkarsag@szigligeti.ro, or message us on our Facebook channel. Our colleagues keep in touch with the audience from the safety of their own homes.

Follow our Facebook page and website for updated information. Let's meet at the theatre as soon as possible! Until then, please stay home safe!
