Shakespeare and the Hungarian Folk Tale

What does Shakespeare have in common with Hungarian folk tales, what is it that ties these two, apparently completely distinct worlds together? We could probably get several answers to this question, but right now, our answer is the new dance play by  Nagyvárad Ensemble, which adapts folcloric humour into ballet, and tries to find a happy conclusion in the relationship between man and woman – ever changing, and yet ever the same, having the archetype of the stubborn girl at its center. The play was inspired by Kate from Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, but it also incorporates Hungarian folk tale tradition – among others, the story of the devil and the Szekler woman.

Tickets for the show due to premiere on the 16th of September 2016, 7PM, in the Black Hall of Szigligeti Studio, are already on sale at the booking office of Szigligeti Theatre, as per usual business hours. Should the tickets sell out, due to their limited number, those who can't buy one for the premiere will have the chance to view the show on any of the following dates: Saturday the 17th, Saturday the 24th, or Sunday the 25th of September, all from 7PM. Those who have a season ticket may enter at a reduced fee to any of the aforementioned shows.
