Stabat Mater in Szigligeti Theatre

Nagyvárad Ensemble's dance oratorio Stabat Mater, created in collaboration with Central European Dance Theatre (KET), will have its premiere tomorrow. The production's director-choreographer is Kun Attila, art director of KET, choreographer and dancer, winner of the Harangozó Gyula and Imre Zoltán awards.

The dance performance, based on Rossini's work about the Virgin Mary's pain under the cross, is reborn in dance, through the artistst of the two companies. “Historic borders, historic and cultural heritages and new ways, new encounters form this performance together – out of the common answer given by this newly formed creative community, based on faith in theatre, dance and human values. Faith in release through the pain suffered with dignity, and last but not least, in the universal power of dance and theatre” – says the show's director-choreographer in the synopsis.

After Saturday's premiere, the performance will be played again in Nagyvárad on the 24th of April, 7PM, in closing of Festum Varadinum, in Szigligeti Theatre. The next day, 25 April, the dance oratorio will premiere on Budapest, in Átrium Film-Színház. The production was supported by the Ministry of Human Resources and the National Cultural Fund of Hungary. Tickets are available at the theatre's booking office or online, on biletmaster.ro.
