Music of the Theatre – Gift Concerts

Varadinum Cultural Foundation, Szigligeti Theatre, and the Hungarian Students' Association of Oradea (Nagyváradi Magyar Diákszövetség) are organizing musical events for the community. The four-event series, which will take place in December, will bring together the companies of Szigligeti Theatre and their special musical delicacies in alternative venues.

The program will open on 15 December at 7 pm with a concert by actress Cecília Trabalka, also known as DJ Traila, at the Gekkó Club in Oradea. Trabalka Cecília known as Traila is one of the favourite DJs of young people in Oradea. Her music is characterized by a mix of fresh sounds and intimate beats, with a touch of playfulness, otherworldliness, and a touch of self-irony. TRAiLA works mostly in the house of deep house, house, and techno.

On 16 December, from 7 pm, Szigligeti Company's music band will perform at Moszkva Café. The actor’s ensemble was formed in 2017 and performed for the first time at HolnapUtán Festival, where it had a great success. Since then, the band reunites for festivals and special occasions. Their repertoire includes well-known Hungarian and foreign hits. Individual and group performances by the Szigligeti Company's actors are accompanied by an orchestra of actors. Jamming is a great opportunity for the company to show its more civil side, and for the audience to participate in a relaxed community event that has a great atmosphere.

On 19th of December, at 6 pm, Nagyvárad Dance Ensemble invites everyone to a Christmas flash mob with music and dance in Oradea's main square, while on 26th of December, Lilliput Company will present excerpts from its nativity play Let's Go and See a Miracle.

Katalin Czvikker, manager of Szigligeti Theatre, said: "These programs, which focus on the joy of music, are a great opportunity for the audience to participate in a fun, relaxed community event as a thank you for their appreciation of our theatre over the years.”

Norbert Kovács, President of the Hungarian Students' Association of Oradea added: “Music of the theatre takes place outside the theatre walls, in alternative spaces and outside venues, and the companies present themselves in a different quality than usual. The musical events are aimed primarily at young people and emphasize the joy of being together."

Zita Koncsek Vadnai, president of the co-organizing Varadinum Cultural Foundation, declared: "Music and theatre have a real community-building value, and the people of Oradea love and support both genres. These events are an excellent opportunity to meet each other and our beloved artists in person, in a safe environment, at quality cultural events".

Entrance to the events of Music of the theatre are free of charge. The event is sponsored by the Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt.
