Dance Festival in Oradea

Between 12–15 October, Szigligeti Theatre's Nagyvárad Ensemble hosts the 13th edition of the Meeting of Transylvanian Hungarian Professional Folk Dance Companies (EHTET).

The itinerant festival is the only event that acts as a common platform for all five Hungarian professional dance companies of Transylvania, offering an opportunity for the region's dance professionals to meet, while, at the same time, allowing the companies to meet each other, as well as local audiences to familiarize with the diversity of the art of dance.

During the four days of the festival, five companies – Hargita Szekler Folk Ensemble, Háromszék Ensemble, Maros Art Ensemble, Udvarhely Táncműhely, and Nagyvárad Ensemble – will present six performances, for children and adults as well, whereas on the last day of the festival, a dance gala featuring all the artists of the meeting will take place on the stage of Szigligeti Theatre. Besides the performances, the event series will feature a professional training, roundtables, an art exhibition, and a concert.

Or special guests will be some of the best-known artists of the region: Kinga Mezei, director from Novi Sad, composer Balázs Dongó Szokolay, Gergő Sánta, solo dancer of Hungarian National Ensemble, dance critics Csaba Kútszegi and Sándor Hegedűs, and scenographer and costume designer Judit Dobre-Kóthay, winner of the Jászai and UNITER Awards.

For the festival, the theatre is offering a festival ticket including 3 shows, for the price of 25 lei, as well as 15 lei tickets for adults, or 10 lei tickets for students and pensioners. Tickets are available at the theatre's booking agency (open Monday to Friday 2 to 7 pm, or in the weekend, one hour before the start of the shows), or online, at www.biletmaster.ro.
