William Shakespeare

A Midsummer Night`s Dream

comedy

Translated by::

On Midsummer's Night, when day and darkness collide, magical powers take over the Earth: a quarrel between fairy royalty, the mischief of a playful forest spirit turns earthly laws upside down, so that in the end, love and desire will conquer the reason of the mind. The situations that arise are comical, but the real events and their consequences are dangerous, and, in a certain sense, inhuman. The night forest tears open the wounds, frees the desires, brings us closer to our instincts, satisfying or painful. Afterwards it is not easy to get back to the melancholy of reality...

In one of the best-known and most-played comedies by William Shakespeare, the fates of supernatural creatures, royal couples, young lovers and craftsmen of Athens intersect, while through their stories, for more than 500 years and counting, they have been telling about the ever-changing yet eternally unchanged nature of love, beauty, and last but not least, theatre.

The performance will be directed by the promising young talent of the Academy of Drama and Film, Jakab Tarnóczi, who, in 2018, will also make his debut in the Hungarian State Opera.
